Microsoft designed it in a way that it prevents users from modifying vital or critical system settings enough to make it unstable and thus unusable. Now the problem with the UAC is that it may be the effervescent irritating pop up that seems to checks everything and anything you do but in reality, it doesn’t. There are specific applications or programs, changes that if are done properly (digitally signed or even duped to be so) can get fast-tracked or executed without any annoying pop up showing up.
Now what’s all the big deal about such an issue that should’ve garnered praise, imagine a hacker who makes a worm obtains a digital signature from Microsoft or some other seemingly legit source and uses it to send you a ton of exploits or viruses/worms. It gets executed without question and you, the lowly user gets hit without even a twitch. Microsoft says this is a design feature and is not a flaw, which can be expected of the big software maker (everything’s fine even if they know it isn’t) who has been maintaining their stance as the authority amidst all the communities who say they are about to make a very serious mistake.
