A blogger, Mike Nolet has come up with a tiny add on but fun to use which enables your browser history to cross reference it the Quantcast’s top 1000 sites. What it does is, it compiles overall ratio of the type of gender you are, basing solely on the results. It uses the gender ratio of each site in the list. Most of the ones who tried it in their offices, like for example an IT company, came up as MALE, given the fact that tech sites have higher male users ratio. Even one of their female colleague came up as a male. Haha. The application gives you a roll call of all the sites that came up with their ratios. Its reall kind of fun to just go through them and get a view of each makeup. It can surprise you sometimes. The data entered will never be used for any malicious activities. The application works best with Mozilla Firefox and Opera. It has yet to fix speed problems with the Internet Explorer.

Addressing the need to adopt technology that can reduce the growing problem of carbon-footprint. Carbon footprint adds up to the ever present danger of global warming due to green house effects. Various programs have been put up to raise the awareness of these problem. Intel started to use renewable energy in the U.S. Furthermore, Other companies like Oracle, have jump started organizations that focus on using technology to transform the energy industry.
In today’s business world, just about all companies depend, to greater or lesser extents, on electronic data storage and a strong, secure internet presence. So how does one best meet those very real needs without exposing the business to apocalyptic destruction from crackers (evil hackers, intent upon doing damage)?

One universally acknowledged way - and probably the surest way - is to move from on-site server and media-based data storage to an online data backup system.

With an online data backup system, data is safely stored on an offsite computer — and only the business owner has the key to de-encrypt the information. That means it’s safe from sabotage by disgruntled or unscrupulous employees - or by anyone else out to harm your business. Beyond the recognized safety factor of that, however, other pluses are there’s no salaried time involved in backing up and storing your vital customer and other business data … there’s no chance for human error to occur … backups can be scheduled for the middle of the night … and there’s no chance of a tape, CD, server or any other media-based system being corrupted.

Examples of this are wikis, social networking sites and folksonomies. The term though does not suggest a new version of the World Wide Web but refers to an updated technical specification and change the way how users and developers use the Web.

The idea also relates to the transition process undergone by some sites from isolated to hosting information and interlinked to wider computer platforms that functions as a locally available software as perceived by the user. This also covers generation and distribution of content associated with the freedom to re-use and share information. It allows users to do more things online.

There are several things that must be considered before your try to pimp your website.

It must contain correct data: True to its stated scope and limitations, web information posted should be credible. Meaning, it should have cited expert sources. Its must look the part, by this we mean pictures and other multi-media articles ought to be used in order to be put in place to make the text more believable what with all the back-up data being put into it. It must also be consistent; all facts and data must coincide with each other originating from one credible source, preferably a published material. The data included is also advised to be in layman’s terms or if not, then there must be available explanation to comprehensively discuss information.

Accessibility: Granted, sophisticated multi-media features like flash, mp3, and other video streaming can give added style to a web site, but innovators must consider the accessibility features of these components. They might also want to consider toning the added special effects lest some surfers are not able to view the information presented, (due to absence of program to do so). Critical information should be in basic rich text format so that it is made available to everyone who visits the page. There is no point in banking on the latest software if it cannot be navigated by the majority.

Easy to use: Innovation should not come at the expense of simplicity and functionality. Information must be maintained at an easy to comprehend level and should never try to overwhelm the senses. This means that one should not compress all information in one page, instead settle for titles and highlights that would just make the information visible but the entire body in pop-up form. Words should also conform to the composition principles and the design principles which would always prioritize substance over style. Make use of highlights and hypertexts components and avoid grammatical complexities by using methods of parallelism and analogies as well as rhetorical devices.

Personal and meaningful: It is difficult to achieve this two if you plan to cater on a large scale audience. This is why it is recommended that you settle for a particular demography. It is better to monopolize a particular field than try and dominate the entire populace and end up with just a few hits from all sides of the market instead of being able to build up a loyal following from a particular group. It is advised that one innovates his personal web space according to his or her personal taste and targets groups of individuals he or she belongs to for starters. Only professionals can pull off an out of this world environment and not lose steam in the long run.

Web innovators should aim to artistically and genuinely surpass or at the least, meet audience demands and desires by banking on the web’s value, accurate mind-set, currency, competitiveness, marketability and commercial prowess as well as maintain user interest. Seriously focusing on these aspects of a web is like hitting several birds in one stone: the techniques described above do blend with, not to mention take relevant assistance from the other parts of the diverse web environment. This will enable web developments to be original and much more productive for both the developer and the public.

Innovation is hardly one man’s task as much as it is a collaborative effort. Innovation is all about creativity so you can see why putting this handsome load on a single person’s back can be detrimental for all involved. For one thing, no creative idea spurs out of a single imagination. It is usually a result of comprehensive brain storming among many things. Innovation ties up closely with many other processes in web development, truth of the matter is, it is a compliment to the rigid standard operating procedures that is inherent of programming utilities. It draws out ideas for programmers to reshape the mechanics of their designs to fit in the demands of the users.

Web innovation is anything but permanent. It has to be continually reformatted and updated in order to keep up with the changing times. Everyday new users are craving for new information, having unique needs and desires. You have to make sure that your web space is flexible enough to adjust to the consistently changing patterns of surfers in the online world lest you be eaten by your competition in what we call, the most liberal and dangerous market of today, the world wide web. Consistency, usability, service and new features as well as communication tools needs to be constantly renovated to make your site profitable not to mention visit-worthy for the consumers.
