X-docking in Supply Chain Management
![]()
Flows are the most important element to define the supply chain management. Material in the warehouse needs to flow. Usually the warehouses were tasks to buffer the inventory along the supply chain. In this way the demand across the path could be smoothed, and the managers can provide better planning and operation of the materials to sustain the stability of the business.
In essence cross docking basically entails receiving the materials at the inbound docks and quickly ship it out right after without the need to store it at the warehouse. If done correctly it saves the intermediate flows and order process tasks in the warehouse.
