Five Principles in Social Software Designing Part 3

Josh Porter noted that Giving Recognition was the third principle in Social Software Designing. The most popular example of this is digg.com. It was design to let the users submit their stories then rate them once find in the homepage.

Lately after the site progressed, digg’s designed was changed that shows who so the top diggers. People that submitted the stories most often have also seen in the homepage. It makes competition between those diggers and the problem is the new-comers on the digg systems can not make it to the top of the stratosphere. Old-timers in the site had already gained a commanding lead. This is the result of giving recognition to their users.
