Web 2.0

Web 2.0This refers to what is perceived as second generation of web-based communities and hosted services that aim to boost creativity, sharing and collaboration between users. Examples of this are wikis, social networking sites and folksonomies. The term though does not suggest a new version of the World Wide Web but refers to an updated technical specification and change the way how users and developers use the Web.

The idea also relates to the transition process undergone by some sites from isolated to hosting information and interlinked to wider computer platforms that functions as a locally available software as perceived by the user. This also covers generation and distribution of content associated with the freedom to re-use and share information. It allows users to do more things online.
